I got the old box back and I am going to pop it open to see what the deal is. It has the exact dimensions of a newer box. There was an article in Hot Rod when they were building the retro blown 67-8 Camaro and they make a note how they sent in their vintage box to have it updated?
When I 1st called they said they could fix anything or update. When I sent in that all changed and the supposed part that went is obsolete and there is something in the newer that won't fit? I will post pics before and after when cracked open. I jokingly asked if they would honor the warranty card that came with it. |

Well so much for my late night box swap. I opened the box and at least I know they did take it apart as the chipped the box in about 3 spots. must have pried er open with a screwdriver. Then the put stickers with numbers in 2 spots. For the grand finale the put a 3"x2" sticker that says"Economically Not Repairable". Now I have junk with a junk cosmetic day 2 look.
They did send it back free of charge and asked if I wanted a cosmetically challenged rebuilt unit for $105. I need a day 2 item to hang in it's place and hide a DUI HEI under a air cleaner. |
