Caption that goes with the Nova Picture

Notice the date where there will be more pictures, hopefully of more car haulers

------------------------
Remarks: Hustle Muscle pulls muscle cars. CNW train #483 was a Janesville-Twin Cities manifest, seen here from the top floor of the old CNW depot with what appear to be Chevy Novas fresh from the Janesville GM Plant, slated to close 12/23/08 after 85 years of auto/truck production. Today, WSOR trains pass this spot on the way north to Madison, via ex-Milwaukee trackage. Mark and Mike will present their CNW Wisconsin Div. program 10/25 at the NWI-NRHS show at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Rockford IL., 7pm. RP.net viewers in the area are most welcome to attend.

Remarks: CNW train #576, with 5 loads and 46 empties (left) readies for departure to Proviso from South Janesville yard on a Sunday afternoon. It is viewed from atop a loaded autorack of 1970 Camaros fresh out of the GM plant at Janesville. At one point, GM employed over 7,100 (1978), and by 2005 over 16 million vehicles had been produced there. GM will cease all production at this plant 12/23/08, ending nearly 85 years of auto/truck building in J'ville. This is one of over 270 CNW images the Nelsons will show on the huge screen at the NWI-NRHS meeting in Rockford, IL., 10/25/08, at St. Marks Lutheran Church, railpictures.net viewers in the area are invited to this free show which begins after 7pm.

cool pictures! nice EMD locomotives too (I used to be a field service engineer for those, so had to take a closer look). I would imagine there are a lot more unpublished pictures like these, those diesels would do a nasty ploom if they sat too long, and it may have made sense keeping the cars next to the locomotives. I am surprized they did not put a top on those carriers. when i traveled the lines around chicago, the sheer number of people taking pictures of trains would surprise you, it was like at every few crossings someone was taking a picture.
