Gentlemen,

I have pass this thread along to Mr. Kelsey to let it be known that there is a very real interest in a larger than stock tire. If you want them, and it looks like some of you are very serious, let it be known!!!

I know for a fact that Don White has some killer pairs of L60/15 Goodyears. Why wait when you can get the real thing? GTO-DON 267-246-6903.

That's exactly where mine came from, Don is definitely the go-to-guy in regards to vintage wheels & tires.

Thing is, I am personally a tad bit apprehensive about turning the wick up on well over 500 HP on 30+ year old tires, even if they do appear to be in perfect condition.

See HERE!

I would go with the old tire if the car isn't going to get driven much, but I got a driver and wouldn't hesitate to burn through a pair of new ones knowing there's more to be had.

Got my near NOS L60's from Donny about 4 years ago. I am NOT afraid to drive it basically anywhere. If you are apprehensive, run tubes. I agree some used tires are really bad. If I was going to beat the snot out of the old girl everytime I drove it I would not spend good money on ANY used/NOS tires of anykind. Just go buy the Mickey's or Pro-trac's if that is the case. They will twist the ears off any Muncie!

Fred,
How about some more pix of your car. I've only seen one so far.

Or............ how 'bout sending a full write up to Bruce for "Member's Rides"!

I would never trust my life and an irreplaceable car to old tires. Tubes won't do anything to save you if the sidewall or tread experiences a catastrophic failure. They're not runflat inserts.

It doesn't matter how far you are going on the street, or how fast. If a front tire lets go without warning, you are either going into the oncoming traffic to the left or off the road to the right. And you can imagine the field day the lawyers for the guy you hit would have, when they find out you were knowingly driving on 40 year old tires.

I'll stick with buying the brand new set of L60x15s when they make them.

Here's my old tire story:

This tire was about 14 years old with only 500 miles on it:

Steve,
I drove this car to Hagerstown, MD for a show 2 years ago with original bias plys on it for the original unrestored class.

But when I got home, I noticed this the next morning! Do I feel lucky???? Needless to say, all those tires are in the dump now.
