My wife is extremely excited that they invited her car to be one of 39 to be displayed in Building T! Her car is a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II convertible.
Although I'm a Chevy guy, she was born & raised Mopar literally from day one. She came home from the hospital as a newborn in this car. The short version of the story: my wife Michelle's parents bought the car in 1977 from the original owner. This was the first car my wife ever rode in as she came home from the hospital as a newborn in this car. It has a lot of sentimental value. The car was not stored properly over the years and the whole bottom half rotted away. About 10 years ago her dad got a 4-door hardtop car as a donor body to one day restore the car. Michelle's dad promised to restore the car and give it to her for her 16th birthday, then high school graduation, then college graduation...but it didn't happen. He finally decided to have it restored in time for our wedding last September. He had one year to completely re-do the car. One month from our wedding day he got the car back from paint still needing to be completely re-assembled. Talk about a real life Overhaulin'! Well, him and many of his friends got the car done without a minute to spare. They used about 75% of the 4-door car and they used the doors, uppper half of the quarter panels, all of the convertible components from the original convertible. It's Ruby red with a red interior and white top. It's got a 291 c.i. Hemi out of a 1955 DeSoto with a performance rebuild, bringing the horsepower to about 350, 700R4 trans, SSBC 4-wheel power disc brakes, every nut and bolt sandblasted and refinished or replaced. Stop by and say Hi if you see us. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Michelle as a newborn in her mom's arms with the car in 1982: ![]()
