The VIN is stamped on the block and trans of my 69 Ranchero 390 GT. I think the VIN is on the engine behind the cylinder head and on the top of the trans. I think all cars after 67 had to have the engine and trans VIN stamped.

I'm really a Chevy guy, my buddy had the motor out of his '71 429 SCJ mach 1 and I noticed the VIN stamped on the rear of the block...he always said it was the original motor...but he never even knew it had the VIN stamped...sure made his day!!!
