Cool find. We found something similar on an LS6 engine block after it came out of the gunk tank. The first scribblings make no sense to me, but the second picture is pretty obvious.

Unfortunately one of the previous owners hit the engine compartment and various parts of the block with a rattle can and really made a mess. Orange paint on the pulleys and black on the wiring and all over the harmonic balancer valve covers and so on. If it had never been touched I would obviously leave it alone other than a good bath.
![]() ![]() Here's a couple of before pictures, this is going to turn out real nice once finished. I will post more pics as we go. Oh, I am swapping out the aftermarket water pump for a correct dated unit along with a correct fuel pump and the complete rebuild of the frond end. In addition to painting the headers and replacing the carburetor I'm going to add a power steering unit. Any thoughts? |

If you wanted to try to preserve some of the original paint that is underneath the bug bomb... you can use enamel reducer and go slow... that is what I did on the Black 69 RS/Z... I tried it as a last ditch and it worked liked a miricle... left the original lacquer untocuhed.
