Looks just like my old ride, except I did not have the trim on the side. ? for Jim. Mine came with dog dish caps that looked like baby moons with the Chevy emblem on them ???

Finally have a chance to sit down and chime in on the blast we had at the Nova 'Nats, Wilma, Kenny (Kwhizz), Mike and Grady, Benny, Don and Sammy all absolute CADILLAC people to be around, highlights: #1 getting Motrin at the CVS(for a blown out elbow due to bad golf), stopping at a red light and having a 71 Z28 pull up along side, light goes green, RPM's up and we're off , he had me out of the hole, but after 2nd gear it was over for him, all at 9:30 AM #2. Meeting the 2nd owner of my car, Carl, who had it from 73-76 (see pic), the story goes that one day in 76 when it wouldn't start he called to have it towed, they towed it and the guy said he owes $25 bucks for the tow, Carl said "KEEP THE CAR, I HAVE NO $$" unbelievable.! Took him for a ride and his last words when he was leaving " Thank you Jim, I will never forget this day" No Carl, Thank you. Looking forward to meeting everyone again at Vettefest, too bad it's only 2 days. To answer the question about the license plate frame, they are from Wm Pape Chevy in my town of Huntington NY. I found a bunch of pairs NOS and threw them on. Pape was a fairly serious HiPo dealer back in the day. SULLY

Who does the Judging at NNN?
Participant owners or is there a select team of pre screened judges? Is the car judged against points,or on a curve in it's own select category? They all look so prestine and correct in the pics.Is there a modified or street category too? Nice looking group of people & cars. ![]() |

But I can tell you what I remembered. First there were four classes, original restored, street, modified, and one more I do not remember ?? Plus a Gold class of former "Gold Certified Cars". Yes there also was an award given in each class that was participant judged my other members with cars at the show. The judging is based on a 1000 point system and there were alot of NNN members that did the actual judging, with three levels of certification being given based on point totals. Gold, silver and Bronze. This to me was the most important part. As first timer's Both Grady and me were impressed with how many people were involved with the Judging and the amount of time spent on the cars. They were also very open to discussion. The whole event was a great learning experience ![]() I am sure I missed some stuff and maybe one of the Nova guy's can elaborate more about the above. Mike |

NNN judges are all volunteers...judging is organized by Rodney Sparks from the Indiana Chapter of NNN. This guy works like a dog to make sure evrything is done the right way. They have judges for tech (lights, wipers, windows, etc ) paint and trim, interior, engine/suspension...Greg Roberts (Nova Research Project)is a big help in these things. 1000 point sytem....bronze, silver, gold classes. Street (for cars driven to the show..!!) restored, unrestored, semi-modified, modified, super modified, pro-street.....sometimes there are not cars for every class in all the year groups...62-65, 66-67, 68-72 and 73-79. It used to be that 66-67 was the toughest area to judge , but the 68-72 cars are now in the lead. There are People's Choice awards for Gold Class, Street, and then a grouping by years. There are also sponsors picks awarded. The volunteer judges work very hard (in the hot sun) for 2 days to make sure every car gets the same level of treatment. You have to go to one of these events to fully appreciate the atmosphere and all the hard work that goes into putting it on...I know there are other great car shows and events out there...but this is one that evryone should try to make at least once.
wilma ![]() ps...Here's a free point for anyone being judged...you receive a point for having a fire extinguisher in your car. I rented mine out a few times on Thursday and Friday...Grady and Mike would only rent the NOS/Numbers Matching unit I had, so they paid more ![]() ![]()
