Highway 40 over the Yuba River in California's Sierra-Nevada mountains c1933:
 Lincoln Highway routed along elevated Yolo causeway west of Sacramento looking toward Davis, 1916. Causeway crossed over the flood plain west of Sacramento (and still does with 8 lanes):  Main street Williams, California c55:
