The way I heard that the guy selling the key chains bought out what was left from the original person who would supply all the dealerships with these in the early years and these are what was left over when he went out of buisness. I bought the ones he had from Karen Chevrolet I can tell you they were original because my dad worked there and you can tell that the leather they are made out is reall old just were never given out. This is what I can tell from the Karen ones and also the Nickey one that I got from the guy even can see where there are some sm,all cracks even though they look new.

They aren't real. Period. They might be 30 year old leather fobs, but the stuff printed on them was just put there, like yesterday. Look at the one Jeff just posted... Do you people honestly believe that GM put out fobs with the Camaro logo on one side and Central Office Production Order on the other? Oh, and the phone number? 9561 of course. The Nickey, Fred Gibb, Smokey Yunick, Royal Pontiac, etc. ones are just as made up. C'mon people... I know you want them to be real, but they simply aren't. End of story.

Are you saying those are all made up?

Thats exactly what I'm saying. If he bought a box of 1000's of blank ones and printed them up, the 9.99 ones are making a profit too.

Winners of these seem to be very satisfied with the final product & price they each paid,as not one has left any negative feedback against the seller warning potential bidders about this issue,or any other.
No bitter bidders?

I agree with Joe, these things are flat out BOGUS!! It is pretty obvious by looking at them. They are all "cookie cutter" style fobs, all look the same with the exception of the wording...

If the buyers are happy with them, then what the hey!! There is an a$$ for every seat... "Caveat Emptor" Let the buyer beware!!!

Joey is right, they are flat our phoneys. I was super excited when the very first Nickey one went up for auction about 7-8 months ago. I think it did like $150.00. I e-mailed him and asked if he had another one. He said that he had only three and if I wanted one I had better grab one. He also told me a story about buying a collection from a guy that had thousands of key chains. Well I was suspicious of the guys story and not only did he sell the next three, he sold about 10 more. I just e-mailed him the other day asking obout the Nickey ones and he said:

Dear leddzepplin,

Frank, I believe I have 3 or 4 more--

This guy is one of those people who are out right decieving buyers. By the way, about 8 months ago when that first Nickey one was for sale he had other REAL key chains mixed in the ones that are similar to the COPO & Fred Gibb ones shown. They were nothing like those in style though.

As was I... although i didn't see them until a month or so ago. Actually by chance, with less than 2 min to go... I placed a $35 winning bid on a Nickey one (one of the more authentic looking ones) and shortly thereafter discovered his other auctions and realized they were fakes. I asked him directly if they were real and got an e mail similar to the reply you got. I never sent payment and never heard another word from the guy. I went totally against my own rule and bought first, and researched later, and if I get a bad feedback for it, so be it...but I certainly have no interest in a fake fob from any dealer.

I'd love to shut him down, but he's claiming that they are real. The address on the Nickey ones I have seen is wrong, he shows 4601 and it was 4501.

Swiatek says that they did use the 4601 to designate that the shipment was to go to the speed shop, but that was an internal thing.

I have a couple original fobs of this style from a few supercar dealers in my collection... been waiting for him to put one of "his" versions on so we can compare...With the bids he's getting on the current ones, I'm confident it will eventually happen.
