GM cancelled the rear wheel drive Impala and a couple of other cars from the lineup that were to be built on the same line as the new Camaro. They will need something to fill the void as Oshawa can probably build all the Camaros that the market can take in a couple of months. A Firebird would be a natural as they always used most of the same parts as the Camaro anyway.
