Default 1968 Corvette experts?

Check out this deck stamping, 68 435 horse 427. Belongs to a friend of mine. I wish he had a better pic. Anyone have an original from the same time frame to compare fonts? I know you can't see the broach marks, but that may just be the crappy pic. I would take a better pic, but he lives in another state.

Not looking for a "poll" on whether it "looks real to me". But if you have something to compare, or if anyone sees a red flag, please respond.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks Glenn:

I noticed a little different format.

The 67 VIN derivative has only the year (7) followed by the last six VIN digits.

On the 68 derivative, it has Chev (1) followed by the year (8), then the plant (S) followed by the last six VIN digits.

Was this the norm for each of those years at the Corvette plant?

Thanks again for any help.

Lynn

Yes, those are the correct VIN derivative formats for those two years - it changed to the "1 8 S" format in 1968.
