I noticed the car was sold last Thursday (mentioned in the other thread on this car) and I thought it was sold with complete as is drivetrain. I noticed on the Corvette forum on 3/2/08 it is mentioned in the thread about your vette that the engine in the Nova would be pulled and kept. Did I miss something .

Just to clarify the thread,based on what I have been told the engine in the Nova is not an L88, it is a L71 out of a 1968 Corvette.

This statement can only be made by a guy that is to young to have lived the era or somebody who was not a car guy in his early days. When I seen that picture I had goose bumps not because of that car but because the memories it brought back. In the 70s you would see that all over, lettered cars cars that were jacked up so high they drove like crap and scarey to drive but that was the excitment about it.
That statement hillbilly lettering every body had there own taste and there own budget and it was all cool primered or mint everbody enjoyed each others cars and always helped each other.
my 71 Chevelle "MOTHERS WORRY" It was street driven but also ran at the track when hearing the story about the Nova it brought me back to the 70s both cars my Chevelle and the Nova had so much in common a name all cars needed that back them Cragar SS tunnel rams 5:13 gears roll bars both street cars and also spent weekend at the tracks.
What this Nova really did for me is making want to find Mothers Worry again so thats what im going to try to do the last picture is the way the car looked when I sold it. I finally had to take the name off I got tired of being stopped by the cops and hassled. So maybe to a non car guy that picture means nothing but I think any one that had a car and lived that era could appreciate the hillbilly lettered car I sure do.
By the way My Chevelle was a 1971 triple black 9,000 mile original paint car last known place it was was south side around Orland Park anybody recognize it.
As for the Nova I probably will sell my 67 post Chevelle and use this for my race car.

I'm 44 years old, you couldn't sat it any better than that! I was at the tail end 1960 to 1985 era of the"lets go modify our cars and go racing" there was no "is that a original starter on the car?" We pulled original parts off a car and didn't care. Now everyone has "Original cars, there a dime a dozen" I'm my opinion and you readers can see from the mini poll everyone who's a car guy (with some history to him) would prefer a nostalgic race car to a stock factory issued car. It brings back a lot of memories from my youth, and boy oh boy time is flying and it would be great to taste a little youth as we're all getting old. We want to do original cars because of the big investments in these cars, but I think we would all love to drive a cool Hot Rod anyday of the week.

Look a john's "Mother's Worry" a 1971 LS-5 9k miles and John modified it! Unheard of, if that was today, now John would buy that car for a premium over another 1971 Black LS-5 original Chevelle.

As for your generalization about me 'not being a car guy', you are flat wrong See, I remember doing all that silly 'race-car' stuff to my old Nova - and I don't get goosebumps, I totally cringe! I recall the monster tire street scene, it was no big deal to me - I'd rather see 'em all stock, whitewalls and all.

Now that's really funny. You say you don't like it now but you were obviously into back then otherwise why not just stock? I think the only answer for that is that your just twisted.

Honestly, I was born in 68. But when I was a kid I remember the musclecars that were in my driveway. None of them were stock and being around those cars is the reason I am into the hobby today.
