Guys, thanks for the feedback. Interesting that they may have been both ways.
I find it strange that any painting was done after the upper support was riveted on, however it may have been a vendor thing ?? ![]() Maybe someone else will chime in. Mike |

Its a lot easier to just paint the whole thing black. Perhaps age was also a cause for the paint to flake off the aluminum rivits...BKH

Exactly, I always thought that the alum rivets did not hold the paint very well. This is one of those things that is hard to figure out bec/ it's 38 years after the fact!

The grill is blacked out on the SS cars and not on the standard car?? Maybe that is the reason.
