ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE RESERVE WAS ON THE UNCONVERTED CAR ? $440K SOUNDS EXCEPTIONALLY STRONG TO ME.. KP

Have to agree. reserve had to be set unrealisticly high. put same car on Ebay and it wont get close to $250K let alone $440K

Not exactly. The reserve is not just what the seller wants it to be. He/she has to confer, cajole, and convince the auction house that the car can likely bring the reserve otherwise the auction house is likely to lose if the reserve falls far short. R & S is big into promoting reserve auctions to alay the fears of their customers (as compared to BJ) and they take setting the reserve very seriously. They are generally good at it and hence have been able to sell alot of cars at a lot of money.

I think the "No Sale" was a good indicator their Reserve was a wee bit high !!!!

Does R&S allow the auctioneer to place bids for the seller up to but not quite the reserve price? That's what I thought, unless that was one of the other auctions.

Something seems a little fishy here. #1 $440,000 bid, and #2 No sale. If legit, what would a documented, converted, Gold Spinner '68 Yenko Camaro bring?
