I went to look at this car in I believe 1984, near Granville, Ohio. The car was advertised in a regional auto trader magazine called "Roundup". The car was in "rode hard....put up wet" condition and as I remember had a '66 casting big block. I called Vince Emme and was told this was the first Yenko Nova. The story was it was a 396 car and the motor had been stolen so it was decided to put a 427 in it and the Yenko Nova concept was born. I was looking for a Copo Camaro and decided to pass. I called Carl Dwiggins who then bought the car and restored it and later sold it to a collector in South Carolina and then I heard it went to Reggie. I remember Carl telling me the guy wouldn't budge a bit off the $5500. price. This is one of my 'big fish" that got away regrets.

Hello copo69, I remember you had your heart set on a 69
Camaro. Thanks to your help the car ended up in good hands
when I transferred it to Carl.

Welcome to the site. Was I right about the year? I remember coming home and debating about buying the Nova and then deciding I really wanted a Camaro. I got the Camaro a few months later...in Ohio.

Welcome to the site!

Do we know what dealer sold this car originally? It could have been sold from Yenko, or a number of OH dealers. I recall Donna Mae telling me about an engine that was stolen from a '69 Nova. She said that they had hired a dog to patrol the lot where the cars were stored. There were paw prints on the tops of the fenders and roof of the car with the stolen engine, apparently the dog was nothing more than a curious bystander. A few weeks later, the dog was stolen.

Hello Marlin,

The original 396/375 was stolen at White Chevrolet. Don
purchased the Car as a strip out and then installed the 427
creating his first 427 69 Nova. When I found the car in the fall of 1983
it was missing the motor. I purchased a 427
short block with 12.5 to 1.00 pistons, steel crank. I installed a set of 69
dated square ports, OE solid cam along
with a winters cast GM intake. I made several adjustments
to the suspension before all that power connected and launched properly.
I've owned several Big Block cars, from
Chevelles to Camaro's even Corvettes but nothing compares
to that Little old Green 69 Nova.
