------Richie,,,It says he bought it new in 55. Im guessing that might mean that he got the car soon after opening day before Jan 1st 1965.......Bill S

Those front wheels look like VW? Maybe the front axle setup came out of a v-dub? What does the factory Ford model script above the door V say?

That is a wild Ford - what a great story - I hope the car and Leroy keep each other going for a long time!

It does appear to have '56 side trim. As I remember '55's had a narrow spear and narrow trim on the quarter. The '56's had the wider spear and wider quarter trim ending in that checker board design.
The model designation was on the quarter panel above the trim and a Ford crest was above the spear on all the '55 Fairlanes.
The '56's had the model designation above the spear as this one does. It looks like it may say Club Sedan, I can't think of another model name that would fit.
The only thing I remember that was definitely different between the years were the dash board and the parking lights. This car has neither.

Anyway you look at it though, that is a great car with some fantastic history.
Best of luck Leroy!!

Sorry guys, the car is in fact a '56. (Check the rear license plate.) Leroy DID buy the car in late '55 like I said and I typoed (?) '55 later in my posting.

The front wheels are early, early Ford items. Strangely, we noticed them as well and recalled they were the same as the ones on Danny Lomelino's car pictured below. We're thinking they're late 20's Ford items, but the ones on Leroy's '56 have been plated.

Yes, 1936 Ford spider wheels! Probably a dime-a-dozen back in those days.

Yep, '56 Club Sedan. That's the very same body style as my first car. But mine was no where near as cool as this one!!
