Stefano, I think you are right. After cleaning it with a wire brush it looks more like a 9 than an 8. Also the vin is 19n650XXX, which, correct me if I am wrong, would be a later sequintial number.
It also has aluminum heads (3919842). I assume someone put those on at a later date. I have not taken them off to see what the casting date is on them. Did they make these in the 70's or just in 1968 and 1969? Someone told me that aluminum heads were not factory on the L72's but could have been dealer installed.
