Do the guts look right for a BE? I don't know what the parts are called, but I was thinking the bars between the springs were sort of channel shaped.

I'm just wondering what kind of "dope" it is already filled with. Might be worth a whole lot of cash if it's the good stuff.

I wonder if this was under the back of a 78 Toyota that was pulled out of a volcano?

I compared this unit to a pic of a the guts of a real BE in a 2004 post here, and they are different. The springs in old pic show the spring wire to be thinner with more windings than the one for sale now.

Can anyone confirm whether the guts in the one for sale look correct for a BE, or not?

The guts are wrong.
Carrier is a newer Eaton unit with PM gears and 400# spring set.
The carrier is also a 3-series. Look at the thickness of the ring gear.
Has anyone gotten a clear picture of the tube stamp?

Hey Joey, since you are reading this post make sure you provide a clear picture of the axle tube stamping.
