My heater control lens has the edges of the black back ground turned brown. I have never taken one of these off, but noticed in looking at a reproduction lens that the back ground appears to be nothing more than a black peice of paper. Is there something someone has done to refurbish the original lens back ground? Mine is in very good condition other than the edges are brown in a few spots. Is the brown basically the edge/back of some original paper deal? Thanks

Ive used a light coat or two of vinyl dye/trim black on the paper. Thin enough just to freshen the black, but not heavy enough to harm the paper.

I just did the same, a few light coats of black lacquer will work. I use to have a 4" wide roll of black 3m vinyl tape at work, that work good too.

I made one for mine using black vinyl coated art board from Michaels. I made a bunch of extras in A/C and non-A/C style. PM me if you want me to send you one. I've not seen them for years, but hopefully I know which box they're in.
