update on fires burning in socal and san diego

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just got done watching a news conference with gov schwarzteneger and other officials right now these are some of the figures of acreage and houses destroyed since sunday

total acreage burned as of early this morning with all the fires from socal to san diego and is expected to continue to climb :

426,000 acres

total structures burned down/destroyed :

1500 houses

570 out buildings and commercial building

there's still alot of fires burning up in the big bear moutain resort with only 10 percent containment

san diego is really getting hit hard with a couple new fires breaking out in camp pendleton "camp horno" . the large fire that has been burning out of control now is threatening the small moutain community of julian and also his heading towards anza borrego park

the winds even though the santa ana's have died down are still strong and unpredictable

more socal and san diego fire info :

the military has deployed predator unmanned aircraft over the socal and san diego areas to help the CDF and firefighters find hot spots . also the poomacha fire near fallbrook "east" side of camp pendleton was reported as arson.
other areas in san diego the witch creek fire which is the biggest fire in san diego is 10 percent contained and at 196k acres and threatening the little country town of julian

the magic fire that threatened the magic mountain valencia area was reported to be started by a construction crew using a welder

Hi Guys,
Made it through this one, fire got to within a couple hundred yards but those air crews did an amazing job-saved dozens of homes in my area.

All animals accounted for, still no power or phone since sunday morn but at least I have a home which unfortunately some people down the hill from me can't say.

Chad-you know where I keep the hot rods at,it's the earthquakes that will get you there!

Thanks Bruce,

Pretty big flare up yesterday but winds have subsided so manageable.Area looks like a lunar landscape and very murky with smoke from the inland blazes. The front that was expected to drop down this weekend will stay in the bay area-forecast is for continued hot and dry with the next round of Santa Ana'a possibly by next friday.I'm leaving my hose line and ladders on the roof till we get significant rain(last time that happened was 2005).Still no phone and sporadic power..at least I have a home
