Well, the scammy part must have been right on this one. I just got the following e-mail in my "My Ebay" mail box.
Dear xxxxxxx ([email protected]), The following is a notice from eBay Trust & Safety regarding: Item Number - 170159705795 Item Title - Chevrolet : Impala Our records show that you were a bidder or buyer of one or more of this seller's items. We recently removed this seller's active listings and suspended the seller's trading privileges. Due to privacy concerns we cannot share further details about this seller. If the seller asks you to complete this transaction outside of eBay, we strongly recommend that you do not proceed with the transaction. Transactions for items listed on eBay but then completed off of the eBay platform are not covered by buyer protection programs offered by eBay and can be highly indicative of fraud. For more information on Offers to Buy or Sell Outside of eBay, copy and past the following Help Page link into your browser: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...bay-sale.html. If you have already paid for this item but have not received it, you should take all possible steps to receive reimbursement. 1. If an amicable resolution cannot be reached, the buyer can close their Item Not Received dispute and escalate it to a claim. If the transaction was paid for using PayPal and qualifies for PayPal Buyer Protection the claim will be routed to PayPal for review typically within 30 days. (http://pages.ebay.com/securitycenter...edprocess.html) 2. Stop payment with your bank if you paid by check. 3. Contact the Security Department of your credit card company to file a chargeback if you paid via credit card. 4. If you paid via Western Union or MoneyGram, contact the company directly (Western Union 800-325-6000 or MoneyGram 800-926-9400). eBay does not protect payments made via Western Union or MoneyGram per our Acceptable Payments Policy (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...ts-policy.html). 5. If you paid with PayPal, eligible transactions will receive coverage up to $200 at no additional cost. However, the majority of transactions may be covered up to $2,000. To file a claim with PayPal, login to your PayPal account and copy and paste the following link into your web browser: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr...buyer-outside. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the File a Claim link. PayPal claims must be filed within 45 days of the close of the listing. It may take at least 30 days to complete the investigation and resolve the dispute. Please do not respond to this email, as your reply will not be received. Regards, eBay Trust & Safety Now I'm waiting for the scam e-mails I'm going to get offering me the car at a "deal" price. This could get interesting..... ![]()

I noticed earlier that it was removed. Does anyone have the VIN of that car? I forgot to write it down, and I'd like to keep it on record for the future.

Verne [/ QUOTE ] I've never tried it yet but would a 'Wayback' search work now?. Also, I'm no computer wiz but I did copy/cut/past the subject Vin and Google it to no result yesterday.. At the end of each day the history is cleaned out but if there's a way to still find it easily, I could try Verne?. ~ Pete ![]()

I and a friend in OH try to keep track of every 58-64 that comes up for sale with a vin. IT's just a way of keeping history on a car's migration through owners. We've already tracked some cars through 5 owners in the last 3 years....and the cars certainly have gone through some "changes" in that time. Sometimes we get an inquiry about a cars history or it's authenticity. IT's just a way of helping people. (at no charge by the way)
I just received this reply to my email to the seller requesting a photo of the cowl tag... ![]() Hello I'm really sorry for this late reply but I've been very busy lately and away from a computer. People think it's real funny to bid on a car and not pay for it and I have removed the auction because I had an agreement with a potential buyer. This person, which I do not know who it is has no answer to my repeated e-mails.I do not know what to do. The total price including shipping cost and insurance charges is $11,200 (shipping is payed in advance by me). The price is considerably lower then others on the market because I need to sell it really fast. The car has all the services done at the dealership. The vehicle was never crashed. I always garaged it and serviced it, kept very good care of it!.The vehicle is currently located in Potomac, MD but unfortunately I am in Anchorage, AK planning to open a business here and I don't think I can come sooner then next month. However I can arrange for the paperworks from here and I can talk to a shipping company to deliver the vehicle to your address.I think it's impossible to buy a vehicle for such a big amount without having an inspection first. So I had a look on eBay and I saw they could help us with this. Since the transaction worths a lot of money they've suggested to make the deal only through eBay so that we won't have any problems. If you decide to buy all the papers are ready, just needed to be signed by you. If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address, ebay ID so I can register the transaction with eBay asap. Thank you, Catherine Delaney |

I understand why you would record the VIN on a legit sale but why this one. It will shed a negative light on a car that is probably very nice.

Jason, I think you misunderstand my intentions. The VIN would not be linked to that fradulent sale; only the fact that the car was advertised somewhere (in a legit sale) and it was a black on black SS with a 2x4 409, 4-spd, green floors, etc. "at that time". It's the same as if walked into a parking lot today, saw the same car and recorded the same info. IT is what it is at this time. I don't intend to link the car to that ebay seller.

Thank you, Catherine Delaney [/ QUOTE ] ![]() Ohhh, the old "the car is in Maryland and I'm in Alaska story......" Well the money for a nice 63 Impala SS (preferably a 327 300 horsepower, 4 speed car) is still in a bank account in Indiana. I'll be back after I check my e-mail and see if I got the same story.
