No sparks jumping in the dark. I tried 3 different coils and have 9 volts at the + side of the coil to GND with the engine idling, and when I increase the RPM, the volts increase. Also my mechanical advance is working with the timing light. A delco plug wires tester says their all in the ok green zone, but I think it's just checking for breaks or large resistance.
Another tester I have looks like this guys ![]() Last week I could hit 6,000 rpm in 1,2,3 before letting off. Found this, are these good wires?http://www.lectriclimited.com/spark_...production.htm

If one wire's spark seems worse than the rest, swap it with the strongest spark one and retest to see if the problem moves and is truly the wire that's bad..
Also, if you've gapped your new points open enough already and are wondering about distrib. bushing wobble, sometimes adjusting points gap open more than spec will strengthen the weak cyl. spark.. ![]() ~ Pete

I just called Classic Industries http://www.classicindustries.com/ about shipping and they ship UPS. Well, I'd like to hear what other Canadians who have experienced a shipment from UPS. The last time I bought something from the US via UPS, they wanted the same amount for UPS fees as the part. Has this changed?
What else can I do? I need wires that cost 39.95.

Anything coming into Canada valued at less than $50 is Duty free.. The only way I've found to take advantage of this and avoid broker fees also taxes is to always ship via regular Postal mail.. Also make sure to tell the shipper to note only the value of the item itself (not w/ shipping etc) on the little sticker that goes on the outside of the package..
If multiple items from the same place exceeds the $50 thing, it's worth breaking it up into individual packages.. Also it's not a foolproof way either as every now and then you have to pay a fee and for no good reason too..but I've just always paid them as lots of stuff w/ even high values seem to slip through without incurring duty and texes anyway.. ![]() ~ Pete

I get a few items a week from the US and there is no way I can find any more to get around getting hit with the brokerage fees. UPS is by far the most expensive with respect to clearing items and all packages have a 25.00 min charge. They are also the only carrier in the hundreds of items I have shipped and recieved to have lost items and more than once. Last week we had a box of sample electrical items delivered by UPS with a 5.00 value. I paid a 25.00 clearance fee plus the 14% tax on the 5.00.At one time if it was declared as a gift or sample it would come with no add ons. That changed last spring and it seems any gift over 50.00 value gets hit and you are only allowed so many gifts a year. I don't know the number but all of my gifts get hit now. Post office is by far the best for clearance rates with a 5.00 charge but they are also the slowest to ship and the most expensive on large heavy items with a max weight that may be around 60 pounds but I am not 100% sure. They still charge us the 14% tax in nova scotia and yes 99% of the time if it is a e-bay item we pay on the shipping also since the seller includes a e-bay slip and does not seperate it out. Now last week I got my first item through DHL the clearance was only 7.00 on a 200.00 item and they were a few dollars cheaper than ups to ship. I am going to try them for the bigger stuff. Why do we live in this country Andy. I was born in west virginia and there are many days I wonder why DAD moved. ![]() |
