That IS a special one. Its a '57 or '58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. They were very much factory customs, with 4dr hardtop styling, suicide doors, air suspension, and brushed stainless steel roofs. They only made 704 of them during those two years of production. Why so exclusive? The cars listed price in 1957 was $13,074! You could have bought a Coupe DeVille for the wife, a Bel Air hardtop for yourself, and a Vette for weekends for about the same total money.

They made Cadillac Broughams for two more years, but they were substantially redesigned. They made about 200 during '59/'60, with final assembly farmed out to Pininfarina. Same $13K nosebleed price.

Neat cars Anders! I may have to visit one of these years. I like the mix of a foreign land with this hard core American car culture, both musclecars and 50's rods. Thanks for sharing!

Cool shots Anders. Thanks for showing us how the Swedes do it. How much longer before the cruising season is over?

Very cool pics, love seeing muscle cars no matter where they are in the world! Must be getting cold over there already? Most people are wearing long pants and jackets!

Temperature was around 55 to 60 degrees F during the cruising so you really needed pants. Ofcourse there where still chicks with very little clothes.

I would say that the cruising season is over by now. There aren´t any big meetings left to attend this year.

I´m sorry to say Donn, but being the convertible guy he is, Johnnie just had to bye this -67 off ebay this spring. Another Swedish guy is happy with your -68 right now, and Johnnie is all smiles in this one. The owner lived in Rochester N.Y-state. It´s a twelve year old restoration that holds upp pretty good. There are some parkinglot dings but that´s just fine if you want to drive the car, like Johnnie wants to. It has a 1966-67 Chevy II thickwall-block 283, and the engine runs fine. No disappointments here !

Nice seeing how much you guys appreciate the B-body cars over there!.

There's a local 'urban legend' about some stainless roof '57 Chevys too. Maybe this is what they're confused with.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dennis, years ago I remember reading in Cars & Parts about the El Morocco 56/57 Chevys...could it possibly have been one of these that urban legend came from?.

Yeah I've known about the El Moroccos for years but the "local" car was rumored to be a "special production" Bel Air Sport Coupe, with a prototype engine. The car just sold last year and at the time of the sale the rumors were quelched once and for all. Just a standard Bel Air, and the engine wasn't anything special either,...... however there were some F.I. parts in the garage with the car.

Just another case where stories grow everytime they're passed on.
