A 'rat stop' is a disc that is fitted to the cables or ropes that hold a ship to the dock. It prevents rats from entering or leaving a ship by tightrope walking.

Norm,
I pass that ship twice a week while in Philly ( to and from the airport ). I had no idea she held that title. I hope they have plans for her. Why else would it me moored there?  Steve
