Wasn't the base v-8 in early '67 a 283, at least for certain markets?

Hi guys, I read in "Chevy by the Numbers" by Al Colvin that there may have been a few export Camaros that may have been equipped with 283s (one of my favorite engines) but possibly due to emission regulations they were not avail in the US

According to Tailfins & Bowties publication-
Chevrolet: Production Figures & Option Totals - By The Book by Len Williamson There were no 283's in '67 for domestic or export use

According to "Chevy by the Numbers" there were a # of possible export 283 Camaros. Now Al Colvin actually came to one of the SuperCar Reunions and has pretty good info I would say there is a chance or more than a chance of an export 283 Camaro.

I remember seeing one for sale (an export Camaro with a 283 and the correct codes) not too long ago. All original ...not sure where... 'bout 7 years ago... maybe ebay... I think it was red. It might have been discused on ChevyTalk. I guess that doesn't help much.
