I've only started using it recently, and it worked well on rusty speedo faces. Keep in mind that oftentimes its rust that separates the paint from metal. So when this product dissolves the rust underneath the paint, it appears as if the product has lifted the paint. This is exactly what happened on the speedos I soaked.
