Well, my 440 WAS fast for the day. FIRST pass ever down the 1/4 when I was 16 was a 13.61, then 13.60 next pass. Street tire thru muffler, back in about 1983. Car did run 12.60 slick open headers. I would have beat him pretty good back then, but after I made a pass in front of him, he wouldn't go.

The ultimate T-37 455 HO. Ran 11:30s in 1971 with a dealer installed 4.10 gear.

It is set up to run easy, wheel lifting, consistent 12.00s today, so no roll bar required.

Here's that link I've posted before to a site w/ T-37 & GT-37 info & production figures..
Bit of a dickaround getting the link to work as it lands on some pics no matter what page you try linking but look at the bottom of the page and click on the GT-37 link..
Not quite sure what they've got going there w/ production figures either...it seems to only list hardtops, not the post cars??.

And where'd that lad go who posted here a few times...seemed like a good guy and was an original GT-37 owner...from Alaska maybe?.

Stefano, I seen that the other day on your site, nice car. I'm just saying MY 440 back in 1983 with me being 16 and setting the car up, ran like that. The GT-37 was never set to run, was just a driver that had some b@lls. Nice cars and there seems to be a bit of difference that what I knew about these cars.

John,
12.60s is still fast for a mostly stock, normally aspirated, street driven car, even today, more so back in the day. I was just trying to clear up some misconceptions and the Monk King, Black Gold T-37 is the perfect example of that which is being discussed.

This car was ordered and purchased to be a race car from day one. The most basic Pontiac A-body available,(rubber floor mat/no carpet)(approx 300pds lighter than a GTO) with the most potent Pontiac Engine available,at the time, the 455 HO.

It has been told that some of the T-37 455HO cars, going to special customers received special attention and parts, like ported factory heads!

Stefano, those are neat cars to say the least. I'm glad to see people helping get some real info on these cars out. I for one few a little lucky to know of this one now that I see and hear about them and what they are. Thank you, John

P.S., Factory ported heads, DAMN
