He bought the car in Southern Indiana. The car came to Indiana from New Jersey back in the 80's.

Looks like the car was delivered in Ithaca NY. I have no doubts as to its pedigree. Very nice car and I agree, restore it back to as built with the lame 400. I have a 68 W30 HT that I'm not restoring back to original, but doing it the way Olds should have built the 68 442. With a 4 speed 455 and a 2 tone paint job like the 68 Hurst. (Black deck lid and body stripes).

We also came upon a red/white 68 442 W30 convertible that came out of the ghetto about 10 years ago. Original owner was a friend of this guy's Dad and he gave him the car. Set up a friend and he bought it in about an hour after I first saw it. I stayed there to make sure it didn't get away, helped him load it onto his trailer.

It was in process when he moved to Scottsdale and shipped the car there. Some big time restoration company ended up with it there.

Andy: Frame braces started in 1970.

There was a maroon '68 w30 4 speed convert. with white top, interior and stripe sitting at Grabiak auto service in Greensburg about 2 years ago. Car was all there but kinda rough and wasn't for sale. Is this the car you are talking about?
