Underhood Wiring Harness Wrapping Tape Q.......

The original wrap covering does not have any sticky adhesive on it and was just taped @ the beginning and @ selected joints or tied into place. Do most folks just use regular PVC type electric tape or is there a good source for wrapping tape that I can do it like GM did back in 1970? Thanks for any help or suggestions!
