Mike, thanks a lot for the help....car has a 4.10 rear..27" tire....I have a couple of hi-perf governors....got a date tomorrow morning with a local tranny guy to kind of look things over...and yes, I think it short shifts under normal circumstances....what I am looking for ideally is to duplicate function of CW/CX code trannys from back in the day....high shift point..firm response...tom

Met with a local tranny guy today and he drove the car....he feels the governor is the main problem. I have a couple of vintage hi-perf govs from L78 cars...gonna change one this weekend and then we will see...more to follow.

Hi Tom:
You probally have changed a hundred of these but just to be sure when you get the governor out pin the moving parts with your fingers and turn the unit up and down several times to make sure the barrel valve inside moves back and forth freely if not you are going to have to take the pin out and clean it.I would be suprised if a vintage governor will fix this. Usually you need a lighter spring set up to get that later shift etc you are looking for. They may have to be ordered special.Good LucK

Wilma, if you try this site and as "HUTCH" from Hutch's transmissions, I'm sure he'll get you what you need. Johns VERY helpful to all, not just HIS customers.

Hope this helps, John
