A lot of the accessories were made in batches and sat around for months before being installed at the assembly plant. From what I have seen, 1-2 months prior to the engine assy date is not unusual. On my Original 70 Z-28, the 837 Alternator was dated late December 1969 and the cars build date is 2nd week of March 1970.
