Pretty sure the internals are the same. 4 turns lock to lock. GM just put a longer pitman arm on it and called it close ratio.
Personally I have never driven a first gen manual steering car that felt "right" to me. I have the original box for my car (27,000 miles) but won't likely ever put it back on, because they drive 10 times better with power steering, which is only 3 turns lock to lock. Just my opinion. Lynn

I put a manual steering box on my chevelle because i didnt feel like going to the gym and work out haha
