Default Re: 70 LS6 MALIBU auto/bench Docs. 30,000 Mile Val

Let me chime in My Next door neibor was Glenn Wilkinson Plant manager of the Baltimore Assembly Plant from 1968 to 1971, then Arlington plant manager from 1971 to 1976, previously Wilmington plant manager 65 thru 68. Among many of the conversations we had prior to His passing one was Quite interesting. His knowledge of these cars was staggering and the pictures of His Company cars incredible. He had the first LS-6 built as his demo as well as many Ram air IV GTO's . This is a Factual story in 1970 a Plant employee ordered a plain jane Malibu for himself, he walked the car thru the line adding all the LS-6 componets in a Malibu body. It was a correct number matching car that made it all the way to the final rolloff line where the car was being checked out for departure from the plant. Quite a commotion arose from this car as to how it got built, the Employee was fired and quite a few people got in serious trouble over this car. As I recall the car may have been Black or Green I will have to ask his son who is my age. Their family grew up arround these cars and Dad had every Hi Perf car that could be ordered from the sixtys out. There is one, it wasn't destroyed and the where it went is a Mystery but a REAL and TRUE story ,so there is ONE maybe still out there. Plain Jane ,no emblems ,steel wheels, flat hood ,the exhaust tips gave it away or it would have made it to the other side of the gate
