In regard to the post that stated in the future Mecum will be the gold standard for auctions, I have to respectfully disagree.

I think Mecum is ALREADY the gold standard or leader in the muscle car auction industry and has been for at least a year. All he needs is a little TV and he smokes BJ and the whole carnival like BS atmosphere. IMHO Mecum gets the best "real" or significant cars as well as neat collections and has the least amount of issue's with his cars and auctions. Plus access to the cars for homework purposes just seems to be easier? I haven't bought or sold anything at one of his auctions but I have tried to buy some cars only to be turned into road kill by Charley or Colin. But after attending all the auctions and making serious efforts to buy and research cars at all of them Mecum generates the most confidence for me. I just think BJ has got too big, too fast and has overwhelmed themselves. I also think the no reserve policy while exciting discourages a large volume of significant cars. BJ is still a ton of fun, but tough for me at least to feel confident about buying or selling a car.

Was the judge wearing that chain around his neck, cleverly disguised as bling?
This needs more than popcorn.
I humbly suggest a Celebrity Death Match!
Seriously, nobody wins in a lawsuit except the lawyers.

This should be fun to watch.

------When this bit of auction mayhem hits the Port Huron Times Herald as it did Saturday morning I guess its news! The funny part is I didnt feel the article to be particularly judge slanted as I thought it might be prior to reading. I thought "after all he is a Michigan resident". To the contrary, the article seemed to take B/Js side to some degree. Wonder if the judge has the paparatzi (sp) following him around yet. His 15 minutes in the limelight may cost him!!!

------As a former employee of Danas (sort of) I agree with all the posative statements above in reference to Mecum Auctions. I think a growing larger number of enthusiasts feel the same way. Trust rewards those that have it........Bill S

After watching an innocent man go to prison last night (Dateline) for defending his life against a hot-headed psycho, I'm not sure I would trust a judge and jury to make a proper decision no matter what the facts may be.

Nowadays you are far better off to just keep your mouth shut and don't make waves. Our judicial system is totally out of control...a lot like our government!

this is an interesting turn of unprecedented proportions...

MY opinion is, that BJ did this to head off any future hot-heads, that ain't happy with their sale outcomes... since BJ highlined Ford's this year, other marquee's suffered... A smart seller will find out FIRST which car brand is highlighted next year as soon as possible, and make a prudent decision if his car make will benefit or suffer. With that said, it would behoove BJ to NOT highlight any particular brand, so as to be fair to all sellers, which is the correct non-political way to represent any seller of any product, whether it be cars or furniture.. this is what establishes credibility among other auction's.

I also believe neither side has merit for *trial substance*, and it will go to arbitration, where the only winners will be either sides counsel.

Our American criminal justice system is totally overwhelmed due to the volume and lack of resources to handle the volume. As a result mistakes although rare can happen. The vast amount of mistakes in the American criminal justice system happen to the VICTIMS of crime not the defendants ,in that due to lack of police resources and adequate training the criminals don't get prosecuted. This problem is not as exciting for a dateline episode and police and prosecutors don't like to talk about it so it doesn't get the media attention.

Everyone in prison is innocent all you have to do is ask them.

Mistakes are understandable. An over-zealous prosecuting attorney coupled with judge AND a (activist) jury nullification is a miscarriage of justice that should result in extreme civil unrest and eventual justice! When a judge and jury ignore the facts in order to make a political statement that clearly violates OUR constitution it is time for decent law abiding Americans to demand not just an appeal but a reversal and recriminations. That trial is an American outrage and the "real" guilty should be punished.

I think the degridation of the system accelerated with the Flying DNA in O.J.'s trial.........the lawyers at that point found out that they could say and do almost anything and sometimes it sticks...........Sad!!!

Well Ken,

I agree. It also didn't hurt having a less than worthy
jury and a whole bank of attorneys willing to exploit that
worthiness. However, at least one of the "dream team" is
gone now and hopefully paying his dues for knowingly
getting off a double murderer, all in the sake of money &
celebrity.

It seems to me the minute you allow a nationally televised camera into a somewhat private venue, you put logic, common sense and level headedness right out on it's ear and let egos take precedent.
Just ask Judge Ito,Judge Seidlin, and now Judge Clabuesch.
Dana Mecum would be wise to deny any kind of national TV coverage in the future.
