I should have posted my most recent reply.
Dear Sir, I am currently running your name with British authorities to establish your identity. So far you are not who you say you are. I am in contact with Interpol now and i will know what is up shortly. I will also begin to trace your emails. After 17 years with the FBI, i trust no one... God help you if you are perpetrating a fraud. These goofs are doing this day in and day out, but once in a while you have to play along. I think next i am going to tell him that i have a cashiers check but it is for more than the price of the car, so if he will send me the diference I will send him the check for more ![]() |

This is hilarious. It's not surprising. I'm selling a car on ebay now for the first time. I'm amazed at the number of people who want to direct me to bogus websites just so you will input your ebay login information. Others want me reveal the reserve and/or negotiate off of ebay. If you politely or not so politely decline, they respond with vituperative emails disparaging my age, intellegence, etc. Am I alone, or is this a common occurence while auctioning on ebay?

I have not sold anything on e-bay in 6 months and I still get 1 or 2 "offers" a week from people who must have my item!

I may feel a little different, after selling on eBay for almost 7 years but I think of eBay as a colony on another planet. So you better be careful. It's an electronic news paper want adds with the added excitement of an auction. If you put your tel# in a news paper want adds, any nut can call. So why should eBay be any different. I think there's value in the auction format and If that's what a buyer wants fine I'll play along because it's fun. But if a buyer calls me and ask me what my reserve is I'm going to tell them. Because the end game is to sell the car. Not run an auction. The auction is just a format for selling the car. It's like being ask, face to face "how much for the car" and you say "guess". A lot of people don't have time for that. So, I'm easy I can go both ways. Just my .02
