Hi Alex, It looks like this is a CE block & it has been decked slightly, the T059 is the assembly date of the engine
May 1969. Jerry |

What is a ce block?????? as for the decking, it has the same pitting by the 7 , and all over that area, to me if it was decked, wouldn't the pitting be gone???? I know when my 565 race motor was decked the metal had the same type of marks all over, I just would think there would be a difference on the metal between the bare area and the area around the 7.

A CE block is a Chevrolet Engine replaced under the 5/50 warranty of the day. The T059 date code at the starter flange is consistant with this type of component if it was an assembled block and as Jerry said is Tonawanda Month/Year. I dont think that the "7" is really a seven but instead a mark it picked up inadvertantly that looks like one....I mean a seven
The pad most likely had an ole fashioned blanch decking. The code for a CE warranty block from Tonawanda would read something like CE95xxxx if it was still there. Nice block and date pending a tanking and flux regardless.
