Default Re: Chris Piscitello- SIR_VIVOR's '62 Bubbletop 409

-----Chris,,,As you know, I love the car. Actually my favorite part is the 380hp part. How many 380hp cars were there, and how many guys never converted thier cars to dual quads after they bought em??? I suspect very few. Ill bet that a 380hp was every bit the equal of a 409hp, especially if the dual-quads wernt synchronized quite right.

-----Guys,,,The building these cars are displayed in is affectionatly refered to as the "garagemahal". I have spent a few nights there in the apartment connected to the room you see and it is a surreal experience. As you watch the big screen you turn your head about 15 degrees and can look out the french doors at the display room bathed in a dim light. It doesnt get any better!.......Bill S

Thanks Bill, I don't know the facts and figures, but I've been told that less than 600 of the "Bubbletops" came equipped with a 409. No idea how many of those were 380hp, or how many were black/red.

Now...this is a true Survivor. One that should always remain in this condition. Truly stunning.

Dan.

Actually......If anyone remembers Bill Bretz......He had an exact copy of that car (Except he had the two 4 barrel version) that he used to race at the International Amphitheater back when that was going on......He was a GM mechanic at the time and had the fastest car around at the time..........It came down to Bretz or a guy named Clyde Hopper who had a Max wedge car at the time as to who would win for the day..........The Bretz 409 was stolen soon after......Bill continued Drag Racing into the late 60's after partnering with Bill Lucky....Cool Times
