You forgot Albert.....who won Silver Spinner.....my opinion should have won Gold. Albert....a CE block is the next best thing to the original born with engine...JMO. Dan.

Thanks Dan..first my thanks to Bob and his crew for a excellent show. I have worked several shows and it takes lots of effort to pull one off especially one this size. I also agree with Dan that achieving a Gold Spinner was on my list of accomplishments for my car but a CE block does not qualify as a valid engine code so a automatic 40 point deduction. Not to pick on one car directly or complain, but the orange 69 L-78 with cowl plenum..an orignal 325 hp car converted to L-78 with a L-78 motor code on the pad can win gold..doesnt seem fair! Seems to me that there is too much emphasis on motor codes on the block but none on verifying what was orginally in the car( vin/factory paper ) But I had fun..saw some old friends..made some new ones ...arrived back home safe and sound and I still have my COPO so all is not bad, although another Vettefest does not seem to be in my future.

Sorry Al, I forgot about your situation. Your car is certainly Gold Spinner quality. What's is the deal with CEs/Judging? I thought those rules were changed?

Al I don't remember anything about the CE block deduction. Outrageous I'd say. Your car is an prime example of a quality restoration deserving no less than a gold. Should have been a gimme. It was great having you out in our neck of the woods. Sorry about the show results cause we'd sure enjoy having you back.

To only lose 19 points in all other areas proves it is a Gold Spinner car.
Too bad the CE block is a 40 point deduct, maybe this is something Bob and his staff can address for future shows. IMO, to encourage restamping is not good for our hobby.

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly my thinking Tom... now what happens if the car is a known restamp or deemed a restamp once checked by the judges? What is the total point deduction then? It seems to me like a CE block is a much better alternative than a restamp... Sorry to hear that Al. Your car is Gold Spinner quality for sure. ![]()
