[ QUOTE ]
He then quoted a new price which had increased another $5k from the top price he'd given me over the phone. When I asked about the increase he told me 'anybody that has 6 figure Novas can afford another 5K bump.' .... one smart SOB. ![]() [/ QUOTE ] There should probably be a distinction made between raising the price on a car because its worth more than you're asking, and raising the price because you think someone can afford to spend more. Sounds like the seller in this case did the latter, which I don' think is cool ![]() It's great that you were able to develop a friendship with him, but I'm in agreement with the others who think he was out of line for jacking the price for his given reason.

What if you got there, and he said, A guy who shows up in a 15 year old Silverado probably can't afford my asking price. How about I sell it to you for minimum minus $5000." What would you have paid?

Reminds me of a semi-recent magazine article about one of my old cars. The current owner was talking about how he helped a previous owner buy the car from me back in the early 1990's. He talked about how slick he was to hide the name and profession of his buyer friend so I would not raise the price knowing that the guy "had money." How nice of him to impugn my integrity in print.
Unbeknownst to him, I knew exactly who was buying it back then and I make it a policy that when I agree to a selling price, I am a man of my word, and stick to it. I saw the current owner recently and politely mentioned that I was not happy with what he said in that article. I then walked away, but not before I casually mentioned that I still had all sorts of photos of the car from the original owner that never went with the car when I sold it because they were part of my personal restoration documentation album and because his buyer friend didnt want them at the time. |

I have the same name of a cheesy actor from the 80's. When I google my name a bunch of his pages turn up.

Finish filling in your profile, Chris, and get over not having been the actor who got stranded with Brooke Shields in "Blue Lagoon". She was cuter then, but the movie bombed.
