Does anybody recall what Lamar Walden's #51 last sold for? I don't need legal proof but rather a best faith verifiable number. I need to get this today if possible. Thanks in advance. (I can use 'in excess of $500k' if need be but I seem to recall seeing a higher number than that a few months ago.)

At this year's BJ auction, I think ZL-1 #51 was bid to ~ $800K, but I heard the sale went bad due to questions about the originaliy of the engine block. Reggie Jackson owns the car and recently came to GA to visit Lamar to find out about the block. There is another thread on the board that discusses this in more detail.
The car Bruce posted was a virtual twin to #51, but was an iron block COPO and was also originally owned by Lamar. He sold it prior to 2005 though. It was offered by a member of this board in the for sale section a number of years back. Great colors. |

Might be sticking my neck out but I cant see the car being worth more the 500k to 600k. I know it went through Mecum last year and was bid into the high 300 or 400's if Im not mistaken.

I'll pay $300k for it so I know it's worth more than that. Thanks for the help. I will relay the info of 'about $500k' to the interested party.

I'd be glad to put him in an "original" ZL1 prototype alum. block which would be worth more than an iron block ? My block is what the ZL1 began its life as for sure . Thanks , Richard

I would like to add something to the engine block controversy but I've heard sooooo many different stories that I don't know what to believe.

Driver I am confused you say worth more than a ZL-1 Iron block. All ZL-1's had factory aluminum blocks. So I would say no, it is worth more with it's original aluminum block.
