Peter!
Thanks for posting that quite detailed "report". I had a short discussion with Tom Willaims yesterday about this very subject and he informed me that he uses the diesel engine type oil in all of his engines. Tom! Where are you? Steve

Seems like our wonderful EPA has been getting their scientific info from Al Gore.
I would be leery of running a straight 30 weight oil even in the summer. Probably the best oil essay I have ever read I ran across on Ferrari Chat last week. It is written by a race car driving surgeon with a degree in biochemistry. He has made me rethink some of my so-called oil facts. He contends that we should be using thinner oil for the most part and that a lot of damage really is caused during a cold start-up because of high viscosity oils. His method for determining the best oil for your engine is interesting. That's a poor summary of his write up but you get the point. Check it out. It's a long read, so I'm about half way through it. |

I'm not a good linker but I'll try. I just go to ferrarichat.com and it's right there. He may touch on this topic. Like I said, I'm only about half-way through it.
BTW - I've been stocking up on syn. diesel oil for some time. When our tyrants see a spike in diesel oil sales you know they will take it away from us too. |
