Wasn't this the car previously on ebay with a $500K starting bid?

"The car will sell to the highest bider"

"Reserve not met"

Seems to be some contradictions.

This, however, appears to be a wonderful basically unrestored pinnacle car for Pontiacs. Gotta love them "dog dishes" on a convertible!

Quote from the auction text: "the Ram Air IV motor & 4spd. trans that are in the car have only 60k original miles & have never been rebuilt or apart". Could be some more careful clever wording, as nowhere does it say that this is the original motor that came with the car when new.

I like your suspicious mind Bill. I find myself doing the same thing. Too bad we can't come up with standardized lingo to represent these cars so that there is no mistake as to originality of the engine, tranny, etc. It is the owner's duty to represent the car correctly/honestly. Now, having said that, IMHO, I believe that even if this were not the original motor and tranny (but correct ones), this car would transcend it. This is truly a rare HIPO convertible that appears not to have been messed with much. The good news is with a verified PHS you know it IS a RAIV convertible, 4 speed, non-console, etc.

As it said before and so I am sure there is no misunderstanding.....

I agree with you Bill. With the clever wording in these write ups now days, it does kind of make you think they had their attorney write the description for them.

Since I have no knowledge about this car, I am not trying to imply that it's a non-original motor.....just raising the possibility that it is, based on that wording. Unfortunately, due to some of the shenanigans we've been seeing lately, it's not out of the realm of possibility
