In January 2000, Spain came under attack from an unknown assailant. Giant chunks of ice dropped from cloudless skies and crushed car hoods, punched through rooftops and windshields, and slammed into the shoulder of an elderly woman. In a 10-day period, 15 basketball-sized ice balls weighing up to 8 pounds pelted southern Spain.
At first, Spanish authorities deemed the mysterious mass the work of passing aircraft—likely frozen excrement from the lavatory or perhaps condensed ice sliding off the wing—and sent the offending ball to the laboratory to be examined. But then the ice balls kept falling, and new theories emerged: Perhaps it was something extraterrestrial like stray ice from a passing comet, or perhaps a byproduct of some strange new meteorological condition? Was it a hoax? Is it a hoax? Jesus Martinez-Frias, a senior scientist at the Center for Astrobiology in Madrid, raced all over Spain collecting the chunks of ice preserved by witnesses and brought them back to the lab for analysis. Martinez-Frias and his team found that the ice balls did not contain human excrement or the trademark blue disinfectant used in airplane toilets. They also discovered that the ice balls did not fall from an airplane’s fuselage because the sites did not correspond with known flight paths. More at the following link, or google Ice Balls Falling From the Sky Ice Balls I had always heard it was toilet water from the lavoratory but apparently not the case. However last nite we rained some serious whoop ass on some Iraqi Insurgents. What you hear in the media is a very conservative figure. Wish they would mass like that more often. Wish I could share the video, it is friggin awesome but of course we can't because it isn't PC. No way the liberal media can turn this one into a "it was a wedding party crap."

David,
I think it's a popular myth that toilets flushed at 30,000 feet just go out a hole in the bottom of the plane. I'm sure they can't do that for environmental reasons. Now maybe military transports are a different thing. There's dropping bombs, then there's dropping bombs. ![]() Steve

Dave, at 30,000 feet and 500mph (commercial airliner), how far could a chunk of ice travel before hitting the ground. I flunked out of calculus, so I won't even attempt to compute the trajectory of something like that, but at first glance it seems like those things could travel for 10-20 miles before reaching the ground.
PS Don't worry about that wedding party stuff, just keep wiping those dirty SOB's out.

500+ EKIA last nite in one engagement, wish they would mass like that more often, Allah had to put in a rush order on virgins. We lost 2 US in the Apache they took down and 10-20 Iraqi Army, still too many US but all in all a good day except for the Apache and crew. Glad it happened on my watch as I go home in a couple days
