I think Shelby built two of these radical 427 roadsters in 1966 or 67. Shelby heard that Bill Cosby was a Ferrari driver so he gave one of these twin-turbo 427s to Cosby, who recorded a comedy bit about the car on one of his albums, "Bill Cosby at 200 MPH," (I think that was the album name). Cosby's wife made him give the car back to Shelby because it was too much of a monster. The other car was kept by Shelby for his personal use. I read somewhere that one of Shelby's senior guys, Peyton Cramer, was out driving this car on an L.A. freeway when the C-6 automatic suddenly shifted into Low at 70 mph. The car did a few 360s and wound up backwards in the median. Cramer walked back to the shop and told the crew to go get it because he wouldn't drive the car again.
(Going from memory so feel free to correct me!)
