thanks Mike, thats the help I needed. the 64 is on the large Electra 225 platform while the 65 moved to the smaller LeSabre. I have been told that this car is one of nine as the 64 is one of two. (not rare like the one of one GTO RAIV verts) This vehicle has had but a few collector owners with the original owner reportedly being an executive at Buick or General Motors. Also claimed but not yet documented is the mileage reading of 10,000.

First of all let me say this is a cool-looking car and would make a terrific cruiser for someone.

Looking at the underside of that hood and other pictures, I believe this car was rusty in the past but has been repainted/restored. Since the whole engine is painted the same color I would question the quality of that resto, also it looks like a lot of the hard to find parts need to be replated / restored still (air cleaner, speedometer surround).

Exterior paint looks nice in the pictures but beyond that there is a lot of money to be spent in my view to bring this car up to snuff.

No offense meant, but these are factors that would affect the value..Would you agree this car is a 3 minus?

-Sam

thanks Sam for the input. I have only seen the same pics as you so far. There is a repaint that has been described as needing a buff and/or wet sand. Not sure about the underhood detail, but a link above shows another Buick with similarly painted engine and brackets. I do not know if that is correct.
I also assumed the car was not a 2x4 because of only one wingnut and the look of the intake manifold. I am not a Buick guy, but someone has said this IS a 2x4 by looking at the pics.
I wouldn't go as far as giving this car a number without seeing it in person and documenting the mileage claim. I am planning to get there today if the rain lets up.

I don't go for this 1 of 1 crap . . . According to my info, a '64 Wildcat convertible with 2x4 and a 4-speed is 1 of 53.

I believe the seller of the 64 on the classycars site is claiming "one of two left", how he knows what happened to the other 51 I do not know, nor do I care to speculate. I am only trying to gather info on this 65 to determine its value and possibly find it a new home when a selling price can be determined. Thanks for your help and the data.

2-4 cars only had one wing nut...but on a Buick it was a knurled acorn looking thing...

thanks Bob, I see the curled acorn thingie, but the setup on the intake leaves me guessing. Is this "cross ram" style, side by side or what? It dosent appear to be much room up there considering the amount of exposed manifold.

straight line front to back...no crossram for the ole nail ead. If it says Super Wildcat 465 on the cleaner its a 2-4 but I guess once you see it you can confirm...I dont think they called a single 4 Super...can't remember. Been away from Buick a long time.
