HMMMM If it was raced..shouldn't it still have the almost mandatory oil and temp guages under the dash? Surely he didn't rely on the idiot lights!

Don't know where in Philly this car is but if true.....sounds like a good deal seeing the prices of these restored cars with Chinese sheetmetal being SO high. [/ QUOTE ] West Chester, PA?

This car is the real deal. It is owned by a friend of mine who has owed the car since new. My friend is the real deal, too, being a Pontiac enthusiast and Stock Eliminator racer who bought most of his 60s Pontiacs from Harold Ramsey, of Union Park Pontiac fame.
He has all the orignal paperwork, including timeslips from East Coast tracks no longer in existance. He bought the car when the Pontiac dealer took too long in getting in the RA4 GTO that he ordered in the Fall of 1968. He also test drove a ZL-1 at Penske Chevrolet, but was unimpressed with the performance, especially given the price. And Roger Penske wouldn't budge on the $7800 price tag, either. "They're not making many of these, you know. They'll be valuable some day" Roger told my friend. The understatement of the century, I'd say... He still has the exhaust manifolds, which he removed when the car was brand new, in order to go Stock Eliminator racing. They still have the factory orange patina on them. In it's day, the car turned an 11.30 on 7" tires. Unfortunately, his son (who is not a car guy and lives 3000 miles away) jumped the gun and put the car on Craig's List before his father was prepared to have him do so. Writing car ads is, arguably, not his best suit. I saw the car last week and, believe me, his son's quickie digital pictures, taken over Christmas break, do the car little to no justice whatsoever. We all know the car is worth more than it was advertised for. That's why his phone was ringing off the hook. Let's just say that a LOT of money was left on the table. I suppose that's the price he pays for not being Internet saavy. The car was driven on the street for one year, as evidenced by the 1970 Pennsylvania State Inspection sticker that is still on the windshield. If my friend goes through with the deal that he told me was proposed to him, somebody is getting a huge gift. Let's face it: original owners of musclecars, especially of this caliber, aren't getting any younger. Hence, original owner cars are rapidly becoming obsolete. The fact that he's recently suffered a stroke and needs the money for medical bills may have a huge amount to do with the fact that he's likely not thinking clearly. Don: Aren't you the guy from Jamison who flips expensive Pontiacs for living? |

Awesome Nova but to run 11.30's a number of things probably were changed:
Headers Smog System Removal 4.56 or 4.88 gears Traction Bars Valve Springs (If you are smart) and/or Cam With this kind of use, the following can happen: Dropped Valve, broken valve springs Torn up syncro teeth on trans Cracked Aluminum Muncie trans case Bent leaf springs from traction bars Tweaked Body from 6000 RPM launches Twisted Axles, etc. I know from experience. How does this car compare? What mods were done to run the number? Thanks, Paul

Hey Swiss cheese, I hung around the drags since about 1968. What was the car called (if anything) and who was your friends dad? Maybe I remember the car in its glory days. P.S. I don't believe the A/S record was in the 11.30's even in 1975 yet. Maybe they ran IHRA or AHRA.
