A friend of mine here in Maryland has a 68 Z28 that was sold at Yenko Chevrolet. He has no Yenko badges on his front fenders but has the red, white and blue Yenko badge on the tail panel slightly left of center if I am not mistaken. I believe a few people from here may have seen his car at the Camaro Nationals. It's been in the Bowtie Class for a number of years. It's a very nicely done Z28. I saw him a couple of weeks ago at our Camaro club event and he indicated he was thinking about bringing it to SCR10. Hopefully he will. Keep working on him Tom!!!

Is that the one that has been to the York show a couple of times? If so, nice ride.
And of course, welcome at SCR10.

If it's Teal Blue with a White Stripe that is the one. I know he has gone up there a few times. When I told him I was at SCR9 his eyes lit up and he asked how was it. Went on to say that " Tom Clary has been asking me to come out for a few years". This could be the year. I'll keep working on him as well Tom!
I think I have a pic of it somewhere. I'll hunt around and see if I can come across it. |

Somewhere I have the picture of the 68 on the fenders. Red/White/Blue versions. I have seen black and chrome on a 71 four handle Chevelle right here in Latrobe bought at Yenko and follwed an old Chevy truck out of town with one on the tailgate. I have seen the Yenko Canonsburg PA decal on an 69 Chevelle SS once in Johnstown years ago. The only time I have ever seen that. I have seen B/Chrome on Yenko Turbo Z's brand new at Yenko. I guess it depends on who put them on as for placement and how many...BKH

I have two different versions of decals applied to Yenko cars.....Both I believe were on "regular" cars..I believe one is a late 50's early 60's as it is still attached to a Yenko dealer plate. The other is late 60's-70's and came out of the Yenko body shop.....Blue paint spilled on the back of it....Neither look like the fake eBay decal....I would love to post a pic of each.......But somthing tells me they would both end up on eBay .....

Reason for my post was there was this car on the camaro net site...68 RS SS, red on red with black stripe, 22K miles, spun rod bearing in motor and sitting since 1971 - included paperwork, order sheet, protecto plate from yenko chev when sold as new with name tag on the back tail panel. All original since new...with the 396/375hp MQ engine.
Now - i move fast on this ad and talk to the guy..someone looks at it first and offers 12K - he wants 15K. I agree to 15K on the phone and will have a guy come down to look at it and give the OK or not. Inspection set for sat am scheduled (my guy driving 4 hrs) - if OK we take it away. The seller (out of Fayetteville NC) never faxes paperwork, hard to get ahold of and other rumors now floating around of someone picking up the car on Sunday for 18.5K He never tells me this story..then he calls sat am and said he sold the car last nite to the guy who looked at it with the 12K offer (guy named Eddie from Charlotte) who is buying it for a guy in Oklahoma named Bill who has a resto shop. He tells me he sold the car for 20K last nite. Seperately I get a call from another party in Richmond who said if the car is what is described -he told the seller he would go up to 40K on the car. So this is already feeling fishy and bad. ![]() The condition as he described was to be very good original and unmolested with ALL Orig parts on it . needing only paint of the driver door and fender and engine rebuilt as well whatever else you need to do to get it road ready. I guess im writing this to release frustration of dealing with someone that has no integrity or commitment in the process. Im sure many of you have been thru something simular at one time or another. So, i assume, coming soon this car will surface for sale again....i would have loved to see this as it sat to see how real this could be...or probably not...but someone did go for 20K so it has some great potential as i was also anticipating. OK . . i feel better now...well almost... ![]() Maybe some members here know the winning players and can send some pics in as a great barn find...

Ed, whenever I face a situation like you just did and I have a gut feeling that it's a deal I offer a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and overnight it to ensure that I have a true hold on the car. Yes, it's risky, but I have never been wrong yet

Agree with your approach . . i was having difficulty in getting this all done while im in italy working....the basis of his word is obviously not good enough....a deposite might have secured the situation as you suggested ...I think i did not go that route based on his commitment to pull the ad and go with the inspection first...he pulled the ad, but the opportunity of more money was too much to deal with ...hind sight has proven me wrong..thanks for the advise.

Sorry to hear about the seller's lack of integrity and the car getting away. I always get a notarized purchase agreement and put down a nominal deposit $500-$1,000. With a Fax/Scanner/Paypal, you can accomplish this from anywhere in the world, then you have a legal document to go after the guy if needed.
