That car is actually my dads. It has been in the family since 1978. He saw it in a Newsday ad and bought it from a kid in Seaford for $700! The car was a basketcase with bald tires and typical LI rust. The interesting thing was that it had a 68 Vette tri-power engine in it and the original 427 was upside down in a puddle of oil in the trunk, along with all the comfortron air parts. The trans and rear were original and he drove the car everyday until 1982. The kid he got it from said he bought it from a dentist, and he also said that the car was supposedly sold at Baldwin. The big mystery with this car is the hidden headlights, as everybody says they were only available on Caprice. Besides this car, we also saw one other Tarrytown 68 SS427, a custom coupe, in a PA junkyard, and that car had the hideaway setup. This car was also clearly untouched, and the junkyard owner said he got the car in 1973. I wonder if the paperwork for our car is still out there somewhere
