Default Re: Dana Camaro block number question

"What sort of casting number should be on an engine block in a '67 Dana 427 Camaro? Any way a 3855961 would have been used? Most sources say this was a '66 396 block but I saw one mention as a possible 427 application.".......................Id say either a 351 or a 321 would have been used depending on when it was made.June 67 had 321 blocks and 351s were used around May 31 and prior..as far as 961 castings being used as 427s,it didnt happen regardless of what the ncrs guidelines say are "possible". I have the motor from serial #000004 427 and its a #942, and dated Aug 12 65..That tells me the 942s were cast before the production run of the 66 began, so i cant see GM boring leftover 396 #961s out to 427 cu in ..It does give some ebay sellers a reason to sell a 200.00 block for 5000.00 though.
