I was just informed, that this is a 53-54 6cyl oil cap as was used on the Corvettes.
That is how they were made back then.
So it is special, but not that rare.

BTW, unless I'm smoking something, isn't the "S" headed

Yes, it is - that's the way Stant made them for the '53-'54 six-cylinder Corvette.
